Genre: Gothic Elegance — Dark Fruit, Smoke, and Silken Power
Octomore 15.2 is a study in decadence — an outlier in a series built on fire and thunder. Finished in second-fill Oloroso and Amarone casks, this dram veers into Baroque territory: rich, dramatic, and utterly haunting. A balance of wine-slick opulence and restrained peated menace, it offers texture over volume and velvet over steel.
In the glass, it reveals a deeper copper-gold than its siblings — a hue that hints at the richness within. The nose is heady: ripe plum, Amarena cherry, cocoa-dusted fig, and roasted walnut swirl beneath tendrils of perfumed smoke. There’s also cinnamon bark, antique wood, and the sweetness of spent wine barrels whispering beneath the peat.
On the palate, the drama begins. Sweetness hits first — blackcurrant jam, molasses, dark chocolate ganache — and then the peat rolls in like theatre fog, earthy and soft-spoken, wrapping itself around clove, dried fruit, and Sherry-stained oak.
Mid-palate, it flexes: orange peel, leather, balsamic glaze, and a silky mouthfeel that’s more velvet robe than spirit burn. The smoke here doesn’t roar. It smoulders, sensual and sly. It dances with the wine tannin, bringing balance to the fruit-laden weight.
The finish is brooding and resonant: a slow fade of red fruit, ashen vanilla, and warming spice. 15.2 is the Octomore you pour with candlelight — a whisky for whispered conversations and midnight reflection. Baroque, bold, and utterly bewitching.
