Amber Lane ‘Equinox’ Single Malt Whisky 700ml
46% ABV | Australian Single Malt Whisky
A New Voice, Already in Tune
Amber Lane is one of Australia’s most promising young distilleries - not because it shouts for attention, but because of the quiet confidence in its craft. Based in the highlands of New South Wales, their focus has always been on clarity over gimmickry: long fermentation, deliberate distillation, and extended ageing in a mix of American and European oak. The result? Whiskies that are balanced, structured, and already speaking in a refined voice.
Equinox is one of the clearest examples of that vision - a single malt matured in both ex-bourbon and French oak casks, not finished, but fully integrated. The name reflects its intent: a composition built on balance, where richness and restraint meet in equal measure.
The nose opens with quiet assurance - baked apricot, malt biscuit, vanilla cream and orange zest, supported by gentle oak and a lift of honeyed spice. Nothing jostles for attention; everything is in place.
The palate is broad and composed: poached pear, golden syrup, toasted almonds and fig, underpinned by a soft tannic frame and just enough weight to carry the sweetness forward. The oak is present, but never loud - it gives the whisky shape, not pressure.
The finish is clean and gently spiced - nutmeg, citrus peel, and toasted cereal - fading with poise rather than flourish.
This is a whisky that speaks to discipline: not just in production, but in philosophy. Amber Lane doesn’t aim to replicate Scotch or chase the extremes of modern Australian distilling. With Equinox, they’ve delivered something far rarer - a whisky that knows exactly what it is, and exactly when it’s ready.
