818 Eight Reserve is the prestige offering from the 818 lineup - a blend-driven anejo tequila that puts emphasis on age and smoothness over raw agave punch. Produced at NOM 1607 (La Cofradía) in Jalisco, the tequila starts with 100% Blue Weber agave, harvested at standard maturity and cooked in brick ovens, then fermented with commercial yeast and double-distilled in stainless steel pot stills.
What sets Eight Reserve apart is its blend: a mix of anejo and extra añejo tequilas, some aged up to eight years in a combination of American and French oak barrels. This extended barrel time brings plenty of wood, vanilla, caramel, and dried fruit to the spirit - but also rounds off much of the agave's edge, producing a softer, more polished style.
In the glass, aromas show caramel, cooked agave, and oak, with sweet vanilla, dried orange, and a faint herbal note. The palate is full and smooth - rich with toffee, baking spice, toasted oak, and a lingering sweetness, all with a finish that's gentle and easy, if a touch wood-driven.
