Coffey base spirit yields silky weight; botanicals balanced over juniper; distilled and blended in-house.
Nikka Coffey Gin 700ml
Bright, Citrus Led, Coffey smooth
Built at Miyagikyo on vintage Coffey stills, this gin starts with feel. The base spirit is soft, clean, and quietly weighty. Launched in 2017 to be modern without gimmicks, it reads classic first, Japan second, and texture throughout.
The build is citrus forward and exact. Juniper stays clear. Yuzu, kabosu, amanatsu, and shikuwasa bring zest, pith, and a green snap. Apple nods to Nikka history with gentle sweetness. Coriander, angelica, and green sansho pepper frame the finish. The Coffey stills do the smoothing.
In the glass it is crisp and vivid. You get lemon and yuzu peel on the nose, then juniper. The palate moves from citrus oil to clean spice, then that cool sansho tingle. The tail is long and zesty. It loves cold service.
How to drink it:
Highball with soda and a strip of lemon or yuzu peel
Very dry Martini, freezer cold, thin lemon twist
G and T with light tonic, no garnish or one citrus wheel
Tom Collins style with lemon, a touch of sugar, and soda
Why it is worth it:
A precise, citrus bright gin with real mouthfeel. The Coffey base gives glide; the Japanese botanicals give lift and snap.
If you enjoy:
Roku, Ki No Bi, or clean, citrus led London Dry, this will land.
